Thanks to TV Line, we have more scoop on the Criminal Minds Season 13 premiere.
SCOOP: Scratch is back in the season opener, as the aftermath of the truck crash that he masterfully orchestrated plays out. TVLine readers already know who doesn’t walk away alivefrom the slammed SUVs, but also impaired is one of the agents not on hand for the deadly collision: Reid. Following his prison stay, which was capped by a matching of wits with Cat Adams, “There’s definitely PTSD,” says Matthew Gray Gubler, “and the premiere deals with that. Is he even fit to face the crisis at hand? Can he even hold a gun at this point?” (Judging by the photo at left, we’ll venture maybe.) Beyond the premiere, showrunner Erica Messer says, “We’ll get to know Matt Simmons a bit,” as Criminal Minds adds Daniel Henney’s character from the cancelled Beyond Borders spinoff. As the 13-year-old series navigates this latest, seemingly-annual cast shake-up, Joe Mantegna can only remark, “We’re as strong as we’ve ever been. The cast is really terrific right now.” BONUS SPOILER!: When Jamie Kennedy resurfaces in Episode 5 as Season 3 cannibal Floyd Feylinn, Messer says Garcia will “deal with a reminder of that time in her life,” when she got shot. With Derek gone, who will deliver the pep talk…? Catch the Season Premiere of Criminal Minds Season 13 on Wednesday, September 27 at 10/9c on CBS
