The more minds, the better. On Wednesday, CBS announced that Aisha Tyler has been promoted to Series Regular for the 12th Season of Criminal Minds. Tyler joined the show last season in a recurring role as a Dr. Tara Lewis, a forensic psychologist whose expertise is studying and interviewing serial killers after they’re captured to determine if they’re able to stand trial. Her role was only meant to serve as a temporary replacement for A.J. Cook (JJ) and Jennifer Love Hewitt (Kate Callahan) who both were on maternity leave after the end of Season 10. Instead she was kept on and appeared in 18 episodes (12 more than originally planned) that season. Tyler whose days also include co-hosting The Talk, also hosting Whose Line is It Anyway? and voicing Archer's Agent Lana Kane. Tyler’s permanent gig on Criminal Minds will not impact her other roles including her role on CBS’s daytime talker “The Talk.” Geller confirmed at TCA that Tyler will juggle both roles. Tyler is not the only new regular member of Criminal Minds for the 12th Season. Previously announced, Adam Rodriguez has also joined the show, filling Shemar Moore's void, playing a special agent who is a member of the FBI Fugitive Task Force and joins the Behavioral Analysis Unit. And also it was announced on a couple of weeks ago that former star, Paget Brewster would also be returning to the show and reprising her role of Emily Prentiss for multiple episodes this season.
